Joy

Mixed Media.
Joy.
I created this bright painting for fun. I freehanded the word "joy" & printed the saying "joy is the feeling of grinning inside" on the right hand side. Over top the flowers is wire I twisted by hand with a ribbon to finish it off. This is a painting I am going to sell & I will make many more similar to it so stay tuned!

Art in College, Jan-April-12

I know, it's about time I've updated my art blog right? So here you go.
In January I began my first ever oil painting class at school, what I mean by that is my first painting class in my life! That's right, I have never picked up a paintbrush seriously (besides when I was a kid for fun) before in my life. I was completely outside of my element, drawing with pencils or pastels, but I found I had a raw talent for painting as well. Painting has really turned into something I love! It's extremely fun..& messy;)
This is the VERY FIRST painting I ever created.
Observing a still life using greys.
Here is the SECOND painting I did.
Observing a still life using greys.

Here comes the color!
My THIRD painting, or FIRST using color!
Observing a still life.
My FOURTH painting, or FIRST portrait painting.
Self-portrait looking in a mirror.
This one was extremely hard & is supposed to look like me, which I argue some parts look like me, but I'm much prettier in person:) Haha. And yes, I had to wear my hair & headband flower on painting days for a whole week while I was working on this!
My FIFTH painting.
Cityscape interpretation. This one I did was of NYC!
My SIXTH & final painting for the class.
Sunflowers.
For this painting we stretched our own canvases in class (our professor did it for us) & then we chose to paint whatever we wanted. To welcome the spring season I chose to do sunflowers which lead back to a field of lavender. I love the bright colors! It was very time consuming but well worth it!
