Fashion Place Mall Contest, 5/19/11

Fashion Place Mall held their once a year art contest/show. Students from Murray High &Cottonwood High School were allowed to enter 1-2 pieces of original artwork done within the past year. I chose to enter my Mellow Molly pastel & a new piece I created about a week an a half earlier, Hard Work Pays Off.
The art contest/show only lasted three days & on the third day, Thursday evening, my family & I went to go take a look at my art work on display. I was so surprised & excited to see that both of my pieces were acknowledged! Mellow Molly won 2nd place overall &Hard Work Pays Off won an Honorable Mention! How awesome is that?! A great way to end the year of Art shows.
I created this piece of my dog Molly in early December & it made its debut at the MHS Christmas Art show right before break. I then gave it to my mom for Christmas, she absolutely loved it! However she didn't get to enjoy it for very long because in February it was featured at the Capital Exhibition then at the end of February it was sent to the Springville Museum of Art to be displayed. I didn't get it back until mid April, then it was put in the MHS Arts Festival in May & then this Fashion Place Mall contest. It's been all over! I'm so proud of my work!

Hard work pays off! My new creation done in charcoal & prisma color on a textured jesso board. I love it, such an awesome inspiration to create this picture!

Arts Festival, 5/13/11

Murray High School held their 8th annual Arts Festival & my art of course was among those featured in Arts Fest. This is one of my newest pieces, (dancer legs in torn leg warmers &worn ballet shoes) that I completed in two days! The name I gave it speaks for itself...Hard work pays off.

My biggest art accomplishment of the year, Mellow Molly.

This is my other new piece I did for the festival, Tess. Started two days before Arts Fest & completed the night before:) A lot of detail in such little time & I'm proud of it! It turned out neat.
